Mining Tech Graduate Leaves Legacy At UPIKE

StudentsAn anonymous Pikeville College graduate with a mining technology degree, who was successful in the coal mining industry, has left the University a major gift of life insurance. The donor says, "Pikeville College opened doors to me that would have otherwise been closed....The mining tech program allowed me to have a high-paying and secure job....God has blessed my life, and I feel I should share my blessings with others."

The gift will establish up to twenty (20) $2,000 scholarships for qualified applicants who enter the nursing program. The donor states, "There are very few degrees you can get in that length of time and have that kind of job security with a good income."

The donor's goal is to provide a hand-up, not just a hand-out. One of the donor's favorite sayings is an old Chinese proverb: Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

The University and its students sincerely thank this Pikeville College graduate for leaving this lasting legacy. With this generous life insurance gift, the donor is helping to feed families for a lifetime while sharing blessings with others.
